NHSF achievements, 2016-17

NHSF, working through its trustees and member organisations, has achieved a great deal over the 2016-17 membership year.

Highlights include several activities on the theme of Open Access, notably publishing a position statement, holding a seminar at which Chi Onwurah MP (then Shadow Minister for Culture and the Digital Economy) and Martin Poulter (Wikimedia UK volunteer) were invited speakers, launching a grant to support the Gold Open Access publication of heritage science research and partnering with Wikimedia UK to run a series of events to give people the skills and confidence to edit and add to heritage science content on platforms such as Wikipedia.

Our full review of the year provides further information on these activities as well as progress with 'Filling the Gaps' and the research strategy summit held in November, additions to Kit-Catalogue and the creation of a checklist to support sharing and loaning equipment, work to build up an evidence base of Heritage Science research and funding, policy activity, and of course communications developments including the build and launch of this new website.
