Seminar: Does experiencing heritage and culture improve well-being?

Save the Date - 12 September 2017 - Tate Modern, London

A free early-evening seminar in which a panel of guest speakers and the audience are invited to explore the evidence needed to inform the debate around the contribution of heritage to improving health and well-being and the role that heritage science can play.

Wikimedia workshop for NHSF members

17 March 2017, 15.00-17.00, British Library, London This pilot workshop is for employees and members of NHSF member organisations. Led by a Wikimedia UK volunteer, it is an opportunity to learn the basics of editing and creating Wikipedia entries.

NHSF announces support for open access to heritage science research

Today, 8 September, NHSF announced a new grant to help open up access to heritage science research. The NHSF grant will support the full cost of Gold Open Access publication of heritage science research. This means that the research will be accessible online, to everyone, immediately on publication.

NHSF statement following Brexit vote

NHSF has issued a statement following last week's historic Referendum vote in favour of the UK leaving the European Union (EU). The statement calls on the government to maintain its commitment to funding for science and research and to support scientific endeavour at all scales during its negotations with the EU.

NHSF statement on Open Science

Meeting on 14 June, the Board of the National Heritage Science Forum has welcomed the commitment by Science Ministers of European governments to ensure that by 2020 all scientific research which enjoys public funding must be publicly accessible.

Filling the Gaps

Filling the Gaps is an initial report, commissioned by NHSF in 2015, to start to map research that has been carried out since 2009 to the gaps in knowledge and practice that were identified during the development of the National Heritage Science Strategy.

NHSF has published a prospectus for 2016-17 which outline the actions the Forum will take to strengthen the infrastructure to support future research, widen the scope of partnerships with other fields of research and open up heritage science research so that more people engage with and contribute to the research agenda.
