NHSF Conference | Trends in Heritage Science

Join us on 10 July 2025 to explore the role of heritage science research and innovation in addressing global challenges.

Our first conference on the theme 'Trends in Heritage Science' will be held on Thursday 10 July 2025, at University College London.

Venue: UCL, Engineering Building, Malet Place, London WC1E 7JE

Focusing on 'what's next for heritage science', the conference will include presentations and panel discussions, exhibitors, workshops and opportunities to network. Join us to discuss how heritage science is addressing global challenges and explore new and innovative research questions.

The conference will explore three main themes:

  1. The economic value of heritage science – How economists, policy-makers and heritage scientists are working together in emerging paradigms to assess the value of heritage.
  2. Towards sustainable historic buildings – How heritage science can help, in times of climate emergency, balance the needs of conservation and energy efficiency.
  3. Digital innovation in heritage science – How future heritage science will integrate digital twins, virtual reality and AI.

The conference will also include a welcoming and wide-ranging poster session, open to submissions from novel and interesting heritage science research at all stages of development. The poster session will showcase cutting-edge work and emerging trends that will shape the future of heritage science. Three interactive workshops will run as parallel sessions in the afternoon.

Registration closed on Fri 20 June.
